I haven't updated in a while, whoops. I was able to send my letter to Uganda, however I haven't been able to send one to my regular penpal. I haven't gotten her a proper gift, but I've done some paper crafts so I hope she appreciates it. I also hope to send some Christmas cards to a couple of my friends who I am not able to see often.
I have been making quite a few 'Victorian Love Letters', or 'Puzzle box letters', which aren't actually Victorian as they are from the 1700s.
My friend Megan made me a Kandi worm.
What a week! And I'm not even finished. On Tuesday, I discovered that I had recieved a letter from my Ugandan penpal for the first time in months!! The postage is very slow, so this is the second letter I have recieved even though I sent the first one 3 years ago. I am sending her some books and potentially stickers. I only have until tomorrow (Friday) to finish the letter for it to be sent off, so i hope I manage to include everything.
My piano teacher gives out stickers at the end of her lessons, and I picked up three, two for my pen pals and one for myself. The one I picked up for myself looked like the image here, except there was no background and the text said 'Even cowboys get tummy aches sometimes'.
When I got back to lesson, my friend (who is in my history class where we learn about cowboys) was still feeling ill, as she has been for several days. I showed her the sticker, and eventually offered it to her. She asked if I was sure, and honestly I wasn't because I loved it, but I still gave it to her, because she's really nice and also I feel bad because she's ill. Also it would have been mean to back out then.
My maths teacher was finally able to run a Further Maths session at lunchtime, hich was nice. My mum works at the school and actually got him as secret santa, so she asked me about him later and I remembered that he likes classic literature, as he recently read the Odyssey, and is now reading Frankenstein. I think she's going to buy him the Illiad or Dracula. I remember talking to him about the Illiad, but I can't remember if he's read it or not. I might suggest she get him Dracula because I really don't remember.
I spoke to someone who I have barely spoken to since the summer! He's really lovely but we don't really have overlapping friendship groups as I only know him through school and he is in the year above me. I complimented his hair, and that was about it.
I got a present from my Aikido club! There was a card, some chocolate, and a Christmas cracker toy. Last year we got Japanese good luck charms, and I still have mine! It hasn't necessarily done me much good, but i won't lose faith.
I am also currently working on a letter to my other penpal. It always takes me ages to respond, so I feel bad. I've made her a Christmas-y bookmark, but I don't think I'll have time to make anything significant if I want to send it off before Christmas.
The protest was held from 11:00 until 12:00. We got there a little early, and we ended up standing next to an IT and Business teacher from my school. We had an interesting conversation about AI. There was also a man who went up the road singing a version of Feliz Navidad but with the lyrics changed to be about the thing we were protesting, which was the closure of the heart wing at my local hospital.
After we left, we went to my local scrapstore and I finished on a crochet Protoceratops I've been working on for the actor Edward Bluemel. I saw him and Ncuti Gatwa in the show Born With Teeth a few weeks ago, and I felt bad not having made him one as I'd made one for Gatwa.
In the afternoon, my brother and I were performing at our piano teacher's annual Christmas Concert. For the second or third time, my teacher asked me to introduce it at the start, and I ended up calling everyone's name's and thanking everyone at the end too! I played the main theme for Star Wars, and my brother played No Time To Die from James Bond (he was really good! he was shaking quite a lot though :[ ). My teacher got me a present for helping her as she gets nervous talking in front of people. It was a bauble with a candle in it!! This is actually great because I can put a candle on my tree for the Yule tradition now.
My friend Olivia made me a miniature paper crane called Dmitri
